A fire broke out at the Parolini pastry shop in Cavriana on the evening of Thursday, May 1st, necessitating a massive response from the firefighters. The blaze erupted around 7:30 PM on the upper floor of the building, quickly spreading to the apartment above and the facade of the structure. The alarm was raised by a local shopkeeper, who was alerted by the smoke emanating from the property. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by the overheating of an old refrigerator compressor; at the time of the incident, the pastry shop was open to the public.
The firefighters from Castiglione delle Stiviere were supported by teams from Mantova, Desenzano, and Suzzara in a complex operation that required several hours for extinguishing and securing the site, extending into the following morning. The fire caused the roof to collapse and partially damaged an adjacent building, but fortunately, there were no injuries or cases of smoke inhalation reported. For safety reasons, the town center was temporarily closed to traffic. Mayor Matteo Guardini and local authorities closely monitored the rescue operations and expressed gratitude to the firefighters and all those who helped mitigate the damage.
