Pecoraro Scanio Misses Council of Europe Agriculture Assembly Due to Fog
Until the last moment, his presence seemed certain, but in the end, the fog that also covered the Po Valley yesterday prevented the helicopter of the Minister of Agricultural Policies, Alfonso Pecoraro Scanio, from leaving Turin to reach Riva del Garda.
Participation in the Assembly of the Council of Europe
He was scheduled to attend the Hearing of the Agriculture Committee of the Assembly of the Council of Europe: “Mountain Agriculture in Europe,” which commenced yesterday morning and will conclude tomorrow.
These were two intense days, organized by the Senate of the Republic in collaboration with the province of Trento, featuring the participation of over 25 parliamentarians from the 41 member countries of the Council of Europe.
An extremely prestigious meeting, that, despite the minister’s unavoidable absence, was able to count on the interventions of the President of the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senator Concetto Scivoletto, along with the President of the Provincial Council Lorenzo Dellai and the assessor Dario Pallaoro.
Event objectives and other aspects
The purpose of the hearing is to deepen the discussion on the prospects for valorizations of human settlements in mountain areas of our continent, addressing both economic and social aspects.
The significant Riva del Garda event also gains particular importance in light of another key element.
Indeed, during this period, Italy holds the rotating presidency of the Council of Europe, and consequently, it is called upon to play a role of utmost significance within the Strasbourg Council.
Following the proceedings, the participants in the congress will visit various wineries, agricultural companies, and monuments in the province, while on the evening of the 28th, they will dine aboard the motor ship Brennero.
