Anna Lui, the national ping pong champion at the age of 86, has brought pride to Manerba with her recent triumph. Originally from Asola and currently competing for the Bolzano team, Anna secured the gold medal in mixed doubles alongside Antonio Russo from the Vicenza team. The competitions took place at the Rimini exhibition center and will continue until Sunday, but the champion has already returned home to celebrate with her children. Before her retirement, Anna dedicated her career to teaching humanities at the middle schools in Manerba.
Her passion for ping pong began shortly after the war in Asola, where she earned numerous accolades in both singles and mixed and women’s doubles. With her historic green Super Simonis racket, she not only triumphed in the over 70 category in 2009 but has now repeated her success in the over 80 category after already collecting several medals in 2021. Among her most ardent supporters is her son Aldo, a municipal manager in Chiari, who proudly celebrates his mother’s achievements in senior sports.
