Poaching Bust at Porto Nautigarda: Two Caught Using Illegal Nets in Peschiera

A fish poaching incident involving illegal fishing nets was recorded overnight at Nautigarda port in Fornaci, between Sirmione and Peschiera. Two individuals on a boat were seen deploying nets around the docks, capturing dozens of carp before heading towards Pacengo, where a storage van and recovery cart were located.

The event was reported by City Councilor Andrea Spiller (M5S), who highlighted the illegal trade of large quantities of fish sold to European markets and sport lakes. Spiller criticized the lack of controls and slow response from authorities, noting that recent similar incidents and nighttime fishing activities may indicate ongoing issues affecting local fish populations.
