Ponti sul Mincio approves projects; rejects Csi partnership and plans road improvements

All agenda items were approved unanimously by the council.

Among these was the rejection to the Società Csi Spa partnership, through acquisition of shares. Essentially, the Municipality of Ponti sul Mincio delegates certain specific aspects to this company, especially concerning Ici taxes and negotiations with unions regarding municipal staff.

The cost of joining Csi amounts to three million. The new municipal building regulations have been officially approved. For the record, both the building regulations and technical standards were adopted following suggestions from two private individuals and the Azienda sanitaria locale.

Project for the improvement of Provincial Road 20

The most important point was related to a preliminary plan for work on improving Provincial Road 20, a project designed as an amendment to the Municipal General Regulatory Plan.

« Essentially,» explains Mayor Giorgio Rebuschi, who outlined the agenda item in the council, «it involves a roundabout to be constructed roughly at the location of the upcoming school complex: a kindergarten connected to the elementary school on Provincial Road Ponti sul Mincio – Pozzolengo.»

The work is currently underway for these new buildings. «Both the school complex and the sports center», adds Mayor Rebuschi, «are located adjacent to the provincial road, which could cause traffic issues and potential accidents, especially at entry and exit points for vehicles.»

Thus, first we built a road between the school complex and the provincial road, and now we are creating this roundabout to slow traffic coming from Pozzolengo and to allow cars leaving the school and sports center to enter the provincial road via the roundabout safely.

Of course, — continues Mayor Rebuschi — the financial commitment is substantial, and we couldn’t manage alone.»

«We asked the Province of Mantova for a contribution, which has already included our request in the public works program for 2001.

Our request» — the mayor adds — «was promptly accepted (though being included in the program does not guarantee funding), mainly because we promptly submitted precise and detailed documentation of our plans.»

«And I am proud to say,» concludes the Mayor of Ponti sul Mincio, «that this was made possible thanks to the traffic study of Ponti sul Mincio, which we prepared at the time. Certainly, it will take more time, but I am confident everything will turn out well.»
