The Municipality of Desenzano has launched a plan to combat the rising incidence of thefts from boats moored at the harbor, which have seen a concerning escalation in recent weeks. Incidents of theft and vandalism have occurred almost every night, prompting boat owners to urge local authorities for action. The councilor for security, Pietro Avanzi, announced that private security personnel will be hired to provide greater protection for the over 300 vessels present. The private surveillance, which has been successfully employed in the past, will be complemented by a state-of-the-art video surveillance system installed two years ago and an upgrade to the harbor’s lighting. To enhance the safety of the harbor, a collaboration between the local police, carabinieri, and the police station is also planned to intensify patrols. Avanzi emphasized the importance of protecting harbor users and mentioned a request to the Superintendency to install gates on the lateral docks, a measure anticipated by boat owners but subject to ministerial approval. With these initiatives, the aim is to restore peace to the harbor and ensure the safety of those who frequent the area. Italian Version
