Portese Rowing Race Dominated by Scaligeri Teams at 33rd Palio delle Bisse

The fifth race valid for the awarding of the “Lakeside Flag,” held in Portese di San Felice del Benaco in front of a large and enthusiastic crowd cheering on, saw the scaligeri teams come out on top.

In the elite rowers’ heat, the bissa Ichtya from Peschiera del Garda achieved its fourth victory, crossing the finish line ahead of Bardolino, four seconds behind. In third place was Garda, five seconds later, while the Clusanina from Lake Iseo finished fourth.

A trio of Venetian teams that finds no challengers capable of questioning their dominance, thus competing within their own ranks for the highest rowing trophy of this 33rd edition of the Palio delle Bisse.

Behind them, a lively contest unfolded between crews from the Brescia bank of Lake Garda and those from Iseo for fourth place, with slim chances of securing at least the lowest step on the podium.

Classifications and future races

Having won the third heat, Sirenetta from Gardone Riviera will also race in the strong crews’ heat next Saturday in Lazise.

The Portese event opened with a mancis of just three bisse, due to the withdrawal of Adelaide from Garda.

It was won by Betty, followed by Torricella (both boats from Cassone di Malcesine), and Lucisium from Lazise, featuring the brave female representative, Claudia Todesco.

The bissa Serenissima from Salò, supported by a large cheering crowd from Portese di San Felice del Benaco, delivered a significant performance after a head-to-head challenge with Birba from Lazise, which finished second. They were followed by Benacense from Toscolano Maderno and Preonda from Bardolino.
