Pozzolengo Celebrates 99th Edition of Fiera di Sana Giuseppe with Traditional Festivities
The celebrations for the 99th edition of the Fiera di Sana Giuseppe will commence on Friday evening (March 16), at 8:30 PM. Organized by the Municipality through its Department of Agriculture and Tourism, in collaboration with Biblioteca Comunale, and local groups and associations from Pozzolengo. A centuries-old tradition that continues to bring joy and happiness to the community, passed down from generation to generation.
Like many festivals, it has transformed into a Fair featuring exhibition pavilions showcasing the rural traditions of a town, which, like Pozzolengo, has managed to preserve its ancient origins and customs. Visitors will have the opportunity to view displays of agricultural, craft, and commercial equipment (Parish sports field); on Via Santa Maria, there will be the “Beef Cattle Exhibition”; Piazza San Martino will host a display of commercial vehicles, while wine and local delicacies can be tasted through guided tastings.
Program and Events
In Piazza IV Novembre, the focus will be on the “Chisol en piasa.” Of course, dedicated entertainment spaces for children, including a Luna Park, have been set up. A rich schedule has been prepared for these three days, concluding on Sunday afternoon at 5 PM with a parade of vintage cars and motorcycles through the streets of the town, starting early at 8:30 AM on Saturday, March 17, with visits to Pozzolengo’s viticulture activities.
At 2:00 PM, at the Municipal Sports Center, the 3rd edition of the “Kite Festival” will take place. At 4:00 PM, in the auditorium of the Middle Schools, a conference will be held on the pressing topic of “B.S.E. – Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy,” presenting a debate between scientific-health perspectives and media narratives. Attendees include, among others, the Provincial Agriculture Councillor Giampaolo Mantelli; Francesco Ferrari, Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Agriculture Committee; Maurizio Cattaneo; and Loris Alborali, Director of the Brescia Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute.
In the evening, at the Biolchi Kindergarten, the theater group “Le maschere” from the Desenzano Theater Center will present “Il colpo della strega” by John Graham.
On Sunday morning at 9:00 AM, the “21st Walk Through the Lugana Vineyards” will depart from the Sports Center, followed at 10:00 AM by the “10th Vintage Car and Motorcycle Parade.” Before the parade of nostalgic cars and bikes through the town streets, at 3:00 PM, at the Parish Sports Center, there will be a grand “Tasting of the traditional Pozzolengo Cotechino,” followed by a variety show in Repubblica Square.
