Pozzolengo Forms Pro Loco to Strengthen Community and Events
Now, the Pro Loco Pozzolengo is a concrete reality; only the detail of the appointment of the governing bodies by the elected board on Friday 9 during the public assembly held in the auditorium of the Scuole Medie is missing, in the presence of a large audience and civil as well as religious authorities.
The first to speak was Roberto Pacchioni, provisional president of the Promoting Committee, chosen from among the 24 people who had expressed their availability for the establishment of a Pro Loco long envisioned but never realized for various reasons.
Pacchioni then handed over to Mayor Paolo Bellini, who declared himself very pleased with this new beginning, emphasizing that institutions must always be closer to citizens and guaranteeing full support from the administration he leads.
Speeches by authorities and goals of the Pro Loco
A greeting from the provincial tourism assessor of Brescia, Buffoni, who promised his help but expressed regret for having to leave early for another prior commitment.
Two simple words from the Parish Priest of Pozzolengo, Don Piergiorgio Mortaro, who highlighted how the Pro Loco can be a tangible carrier of the community aspect of the town, valuing volunteering while respecting the person.
The speech by Sparapano, president of the Pro Loco of Lombardy, was very precise, detailed, and comprehensive; he informed the assembly that Italy has about five thousand Pro Loco, 702 of which are in Lombardy.
Operational modes and future prospects
The provisional president Pacchioni concluded by outlining the prerogatives of the Pro Loco, which for now will handle and manage only the events previously managed by the municipality. It will also coordinate and, upon request, collaborate and support events currently promoted and organized by Groups or associations.
Pacchioni stated that all this—keeping firmly in mind that the Pro Loco should be primarily an innovation and not just a mere transfer of roles—
He then discussed a specific project that will see the Pro Loco engaged in coordinating events, acquiring an office, establishing a Press Office, promoting the territory, revitalizing the Historic Center, and providing overall direction for the town’s development: a priority is to prepare for the centenary of the establishment of the ancient San Giuseppe Fair, which takes place on March 19 (originally established on February 7, 1903).
Conclusions and election of the governing board
After various interventions, few clarifying questions and finally the vote for the Board of Directors took place, resulting in these outcomes.
Elected members: Roberto Pacchioni (with as many as 60 votes out of 64 voters), Marco Santini, Gabriele Tosi, Gianluca Castrini, Silvano Buzzacchetti, Alfredo Meda, Paolo Maddi, Laura Boldrini.
To these eight councilors, three representatives of the municipal administration are added: Davide Vezzoli and Riccardo Saetti, who are persistent advocates and promoters of the constitution of the Pro Loco, and Fabrizio Ricchelli for the opposition.
The mayors elected are: Alex Franzoni, Stefano Dalla Bà, and, tied in votes, Leila Boldrini and Monica Maddi.
In the coming days, the Board will elect the President, Vice President, Secretary, etc.
