The wildlife monitoring in the province of Brescia for 2024 has revealed a significant presence of bears, with as many as 68 reports concerning the species Ursus arctos. The observations, although not all verified, have covered the entire mountainous territory of Brescia, from Alto Garda to Valle Camonica. In particular, sightings and damage to beehives have been recorded between Tremosine, Tignale, Valvestino, and Magasa. A camera trap documented the presence of a female bear with a cub on the Trentino side of Monte Tombea.
Regarding the wolf, reports mainly come from Valle Camonica, where two breeding packs have been confirmed within the Stelvio National Park: the well-known Tonale pack and a new one in Valgrande. Additional sightings of dispersing individuals have also been reported in surrounding mountainous areas such as Alto Garda and Val Sabbia, as well as in the plains of Brescia, suggesting movements from more distant populations in the Apennines and from the neighboring provinces of Cremona and Mantova.
