The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will participate in the Torchlight Procession of the Red Cross, which will take place in Solferino on June 22nd. The announcement was made by Rosario Valastro, President of the Italian Red Cross, during the national assembly of the humanitarian organization.

The Torchlight Procession of Solferino is a historic event that celebrates the birth of the idea behind the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement. Every year, thousands of volunteers from around the world gather in Solferino to illuminate the places where Henry Dunant, the founder of the Red Cross, laid the foundations for the humanitarian work that bears his name.

The announcement of President Mattarella’s presence was enthusiastically received by the over 450 presidents and delegates present at the national assembly of the Red Cross. His participation confirms the importance and relevance of the Red Cross’s commitment in the humanitarian field.

President Mattarella’s presence in Solferino also underscores the commitment of Italian institutions to support and promote the activities of the Red Cross. The event represents a moment of reflection on the need to continue working to ensure assistance and relief to people in emergency situations.

President Mattarella’s participation in the Torchlight Procession will undoubtedly be a significant moment for all the volunteers present and an important testimony to the value of the humanitarian action of the Red Cross. The event provides an opportunity to remember the importance of promoting solidarity and mutual aid, fundamental values for building a more just and inclusive society.
