The Brescia Est-Verona High-Speed Rail Construction Site has achieved a significant 85% progress, with the new railway line expected to be operational by the end of 2026. This project spans approximately 48 kilometers and crosses two regions, three provinces, and eleven municipalities, involving a total investment of 3 billion euros, of which over 2 billion is financed by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (Pnrr). The works include the “Lonato System,” a series of tunnels between Lonato and Desenzano, while the new high-speed station at Lake Garda is also in the design phase.
The exit from Brescia is anticipated by the end of 2025, while the west entrance to Verona is expected to be activated by 2028. The completion of the works, including those not strictly necessary for railway service, is scheduled for June 28, 2027. With these timelines, anticipation is growing for the enhancement of the Verona railway project, which promises to significantly improve connections in the area.
