Province Approves New Underground Parking Plan on Former Tennis Courts

There are no longer any formal obstacles to the realization of the large underground parking lot in the area between Viale delle Palme and Via Marconi, where a few years ago there were tennis courts.

Yesterday, the Provincial Council voted in favor of amending the Arco Municipality’s public works program, where local administrators proposed to abandon the idea of the Foro Boario in favor of that of the ex-tennis courts.

At the same time, the Giunta Dellai approved the postponement of the deadline (from December 1 to December 20, 2000) by which the municipal administration had to confirm its intention to invest the five billion lire allocated for large-scale urban parking structures.

Procedures and timelines

The Municipality can now proceed with commissioning the design work and, subsequently, with awarding the contracts for construction.

Easy to say, a bit harder to do, given the complexity of bureaucratic procedures.

The parking lot will not likely be ready before five years, provided, of course, that no difficulties arise in the meantime, or—an eventuality not to be excluded—that the current administration changes its mind again.
