Province Moves Forward with Drilling to Discover S. Giorgio Hot Springs

It is a mirage that appears and disappears continuously—the thermal water of S. Giorgio. An illusion repeatedly fostered by the various administrations of Arco in recent years, who have consistently recognized its significant tourism and economic potential.

A dream that now seems finally capable of materializing: the Province, in fact, has accepted the burden and honor of creating a drilling well to conduct a series of surveys aimed at discovering hot water sources.

A few days ago, on the mayor Veronesi’s desk, the provincial geological service delivered a positive response to the request submitted by the Arco municipality to carry out some monitoring of S. Giorgio’s subsoil, aimed at verifying the presence or absence of thermal water springs.

Interventions and Projects

“An intervention entirely financed by the Province,” says Public Works Councilor Stefano Bresciani, “we will only have to provide an area where the drilling will take place. We have not yet made a final decision, but we are evaluating a couple of sites just outside the town, towards via Passirone.”

In the coming weeks, the geological service will send the technical drawings related to the well to the municipal technical office; subsequent to that, they will initiate the searches.

“The Province will need to set up a real construction site,” explains the councilor, “considering the size of the well to be built (we’re talking about 200 meters deep). To get initial results, we will have to wait until the end of the year. Also because, the water must be found.”

This development, however, opens new scenario that we must carefully consider. The S. Giorgio thermal baths could present an opportunity to seize immediately and benefit from. The idea might be to establish a municipal company, as seems to be fashionable now.

In all of this, credit must be given to Alleanza Nazionale for pushing strongly in this direction.”
