Puegnago Fair Hosts Third Spit-Roast Competition with Regional Winners

The 25th edition of the Puegnago Fair also hosted the third competition for the best spit-roast by agritourisms. It was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated moments of the fair, especially for polenta and osei lovers.

The Event and the Selections

“Our initiative,” explains Tiberio Prati, president of the Puegnago Culture Commission and coordinator of the event, “aimed to promote spit-roast as a typical dish of the entire Valtenesi region. We are now at the third edition, and next year we will return with an even richer competition.”

The five competing spit-roasts included four from Puegnago. Participants from the Gardesano town were the agritourism farms «Il Bosco» by Gian Luca Cavagnini; «La Percola» by Vittorio Leali; «Monterotondo» by Fausto Cavalli; «Trevisani» by Mauro Trevisani.

The only ‘outsider’ came from Sedena in Lonato: the agritourism «La Bagnole» by Dante Ghisa. The jury, chaired by Ezio Campagnola, former president of «Arte in Tavola», awarded Mauro Trevisani’s spit-roast, which earned a valued silver plate decorated by Puegnago painter-poet Rosa Amadei.

The Prize and Rosa Amadei’s Artwork

Rosa Amadei’s artwork depicted a panoramic view of Lake Garda: in the background, the Rocca di Manerba, seen from the square recently named after Beato Don Baldo. The other four participants received a plaque and a certificate of participation in the Puegnago Fair competition.
