Regional Realignment Brings Health Funding and Strategic Projects to Brescia

The Lombardy Regional Council has approved the 2026-2028 budget adjustment, raising spending by €672 million in 2027 and €572 million in 2028. Funds will be directed mainly to healthcare, transport, the environment, land protection, infrastructure, and support for local areas. The regional health fund is set at about €23.1 billion per year, while the public works plan exceeds €2.9 billion over the three-year period.

The package also includes measures for Brescia. Among them is a €2 million allocation for genetic screening for people with a family history of conditions linked to the risk of sudden cardiac death in youth, such as long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, and other channelopathies. The council also backed a motion by regional councillor Claudia Carzeri to support integrated arts and music pathways within diagnostic-therapeutic-care routes (PDTA), drawing on the “Ambulatori delle Arti” experience at the Children’s Hospital of the Spedali Civili di Brescia, with activities like music, theatre, and photography to complement care—especially in paediatrics—and promote pilots across Lombardy’s ASSTs.

In addition, the council approved an act for the Luca Marenzio Conservatory in Brescia aimed at identifying further resources to complete the refurbishment of the future Palazzo Bargnani site. The budget further includes commitments for the province, including funding in the run-up to the 2027 national Alpini gathering, projects for rail mobility, and initiatives in Valcamonica.
