Registrations are now open for the 11th edition of the Fondo nel Golfo, an open water swimming race organized by Canottieri Garda in the Gulf of Salò. The event will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

The Fondo nel Golfo was created 11 years ago by the master athletes of the Canottieri swimming team and last year it reached a record number of participants with 345 athletes. The uniqueness of this race is its openness to swimmers of all ages and different levels of preparation. The oldest athlete was 73 years old, while the youngest was only 14.

The competition consists of three different courses: the first will be 4.5 km long and will start at 6:40 pm from the Sirena beach, near the Canottieri headquarters. This will be followed by a second course of 3 km and a third course of 1.5 km.

During the race, navigation will be suspended from 6:30 pm to 8 pm to ensure the safety of the participants. Coast Guard and Finance Guard vehicles will be present, along with Canottieri Garda’s rubber boats, each with a certified FIN lifeguard.

Over the years, the Fondo nel Golfo has become a regular event for open water swimming enthusiasts on Lake Garda. It is an opportunity to challenge oneself and experience a unique event in one of the most picturesque locations in the area. Registrations are open to all interested individuals, who can participate as individuals or as teams.
