The Municipal Administration has decided to provide clarifications regarding the current situation of the Trebeschi Middle School, which is in the spotlight due to ongoing renovation work. These interventions were initiated in response to reports from families and to address misinformation spread by some local media outlets.

Current Status of the Works

Currently, the work has not yet reached the stage of repairing the building’s roof, which explains the ongoing water infiltration issues. The inconveniences related to these problems will only be resolved once the roofing interventions are completed. The design of the roof has historically required frequent maintenance to manage infiltrations, which have been exacerbated by the hailstorm in July 2023 and recent seismic improvement works that involved the installation of steel pins, leading to perforations in the membranes.

Planned Interventions

In addition to roof repairs, the work includes improving the seismic resistance of the building and ensuring compliance with current fire safety regulations. The plans also encompass raising the internal parapets and replacing some fixtures, all aimed at enhancing the school’s energy efficiency. Furthermore, modern and accessible restrooms will be constructed.

Site Management

The presence of the construction site within the school has been a necessary choice to ensure the safety of students and teaching staff. Given the economic significance of the project, which exceeds one million euros, it has been impossible to complete the work solely during the summer period. This has inevitably led to an extension of the work timeline.

Statements from Local Authorities

Mayor Luisa Lavelli emphasized the importance of the physical and psychological well-being of students: “Over the years, significant resources have always been allocated to the care and maintenance of school buildings.” Vice Mayor Maurizio Ferrari also acknowledged the sacrifices required from the school community: “To mitigate the inconveniences, repeated interventions have been made to remove mold and repaint areas affected by infiltrations.”

Finally, the Education Delegate Miria Bocchio expressed understanding for the disruptions caused by the work: “I want to assure everyone that the well-being of students and teachers remains our priority.” She also highlighted the Administration’s efforts to ensure efficient services and support for educational projects.
