Ledro: towards the reopening with alternating one-way traffic

Work continues on State Road 240 in Mezzolago, Riva del Garda, to restore the road that was closed due to a landslide that blocked the carriageway. The aim is to reopen the road by the second week of May, initially with alternating one-way traffic.

The landslide on February 11th caused approximately 300-400 cubic meters of rock material to spill onto the carriageway, completely blocking passage. The work has been divided into several phases and some important interventions have been completed.

Initially, the rocky slope above the road was reshaped, and then the demolition debris deposited on the carriageway was removed, with a total volume of nearly 2000 cubic meters. Additionally, a reinforced concrete buttress was built near the original niche from which the collapse originated.

Currently, workers are anchoring the cortical layers of the rocky slope above the road. This work is being carried out by specialized teams operating on both the uphill and downhill sides of State Road 240. Despite the holidays, the workers will continue to operate, unless there are unfavorable weather conditions.

Once the anchoring is completed, the road will be reopened with alternating one-way traffic, allowing for direct connection between Molina di Ledro and Pieve di Ledro. However, there are still some works to be completed, such as restoring the safety barrier along the valley edge, repairing the damaged asphalt pavement caused by the landslide, and the cycle and pedestrian path affected by the reshaping of the rock wall.

In conclusion, work on State Road 240 in Mezzolago is progressing according to schedule, with the aim of reopening the road by the second week of May. Once reopened with alternating one-way traffic, further interventions will be necessary to complete the full restoration of the section affected by the landslide.
