Rescue operations for boaters on Lake Garda: wind emergency and urgent interventions

Yesterday morning, fifteen people were rescued on Lake Garda due to an emergency caused by strong winds. Between Limone and Peschiera, the Coast Guard carried out numerous interventions to assist boaters in distress, following a weather disturbance that brought gusts of up to 50 knots, known as Pelér. The adverse conditions necessitated the activation of rescue operations by the Coast Guard of Salò, which collaborated with the Fire Brigade and the State Police.

The first intervention took place in Limone, where four individuals were assisted after their sailing boat sustained damage to its mast. In Torri del Benaco, a boater stranded on a buoy was rescued by the Fire Brigade of Bardolino. In the Gulf of Manerba, two Austrian tourists and another four boaters were saved from their vessels. Finally, in the area of Peschiera, three Dutch tourists in distress were rescued by the State Police as their craft was taking on water. In light of the adverse weather conditions, Navigarda decided to suspend line navigation for safety reasons.
