Restoration Ensures Safety at Malcesine’s Romantic Balcony
Malcesine has recently completed a conservative restoration of the Lovers’ Balcony at the Scaliger Castle, addressing structural cracks that had led to its closure. The project, funded by the local government and coordinated with the Cultural Heritage Superintendency, focused on preserving the historical integrity of the structure while ensuring safety.
Restoration efforts included consolidating the historic masonry, repairing cracks, and installing new minimalistic safety railings. The balcony has been reopened to the public in a stable and secure condition, though access remains restricted to behind the iron fence, with visitors still able to enjoy the panoramic views.
