The reconstruction of the outer wall of Drena Castle has officially begun, marking a significant step for the security of the local cultural heritage. The work, entrusted to Effeffe Restauri srl from Borgo Chiese, aims to repair the collapse that occurred on June 1, 2018, which affected a central section of the wall standing twelve meters high. With an investment of approximately 1.5 million euros, primarily funded by the Autonomous Province of Trento, the project involves consolidation and restoration that will last about 300 days. The project is overseen by architect Michele Anderle and aims not only to secure the fortress but also to enhance its cultural value.

The mayor of Drena, Giovanna Chiarani, emphasized the importance of the castle as a symbol of the community’s identity and highlighted the solidarity shown by citizens in fundraising for the restoration. The structural issues that emerged after the collapse necessitated a thorough analysis by the Superintendency and the University of Trento, leading to the decision to rebuild using stones recovered on-site. This choice aims to preserve the historical integrity of the building and restore the castle’s iconic significance for Drena and the Sarca Valley.
