Tignale has received approval from the Superintendency to commence the restoration of the votive chapels located along the spiritual path of Montecastello. The work, set to begin shortly, aims to restore fourteen chapels dating back to 1730, each dedicated to the mysteries of the Rosary and arranged along a route that symbolizes the ascent to Calvary. These chapels not only narrate the lives of Christ and Mary but also represent an important aspect of local tradition, with the residents of Tignale still walking the path in annual processions today.
The restoration project, overseen by architect Valeria Ghezzi, will be funded by a donation of 200,000 euros from Brescia entrepreneur Ignazio Bertola, through the Brescia Community Foundation. The work will include the restoration of the decorated surfaces of the chapels and the upgrading of the lighting. This initiative is particularly significant as it also serves to commemorate the tragic incident of 1983 that affected one of the chapels, transforming it into a place of memory as well as faith.
