The season of historic trains in Lombardy is set to kick off with enthusiasm, offering tourists the chance to explore local beauties aboard charming vehicles with an antique flair. This initiative, now in its eighth edition, is organized by the Transport and Sustainable Mobility Department of the Lombardy Region in collaboration with the Italian State Railways Foundation and FS Italian Tourist Trains. Franco Lucente, the regional councilor, emphasized how this slow tourism experience continues to attract thousands of travelers eager to discover iconic places in an innovative and shared way.
The schedule for 2025 includes 23 trips with over 6,000 seats available, featuring special routes such as the journey along the Milan-Desenzano-Verona line in conjunction with the “Frecce Tricolori Air Show” on May 18. Other routes include the Lario Express to Como and Lecco, and the Sebino Express connecting Milan to Lake Iseo. Tickets can be purchased through Trenitalia’s official channels, and children up to 14 years old can travel for free.
