Riva Basketball to Move to Palafiere Amid City Council Support
In response to the will of the city council, the mayor of Riva has already met with representatives of Palacongressi srl, Lido di Riva, and Gs Basket Riva Garda Cartiere to try to find a common solution that will, in the coming months, lead to the transfer of the basketball team’s activities to pavilion C of the Palafiere.
Discussion and technical aspects
The various aspects related to the potential moving operation have been addressed, along with the different problems that need to be resolved before the structure can be readied for use.
These include bureaucratic issues, such as urban planning permits and various authorizations, as well as technical problems, like the arrangement of the stands (which will be purchased and installed through a public tender).
An open debate took place the day before yesterday, during which each party involved shared their ideas and engaged in a clear and constructive dialogue.
Positions and comments
At the end of the meeting, Bruno Santi, president of Gs Riva, expressed a somewhat positive outlook. “I am optimistic by nature,” Santi said, “and I tend to see the ‘glass half full,’ rather than the opposite.”
During the meeting, I observed that all parties involved acknowledged the will expressed Thursday evening by the city council. For this reason, I believe an agreement can be reached and that the sports activities of our team can be moved to the Palafiere.
However, I have no idea about the timeline. For my part, I reiterated that Gs Riva has no intention to hinder the fair activity in any way, and that the “move” to the new facility can happen smoothly even during the ongoing championship.
Instead, a polite “no comment” came from Giovanni Zontini, president of Palacongressi, who preferred to remain silent on what was discussed during Friday afternoon’s meeting. “An process has been initiated,” he explained, “and on our part, we are simply waiting to be told what to do.”
