Riva del Garda and the cycle path: opposition to sustainable infrastructure
The Municipality of Riva del Garda has expressed its opposition to the construction of the Garda cycle path, refusing to take responsibility for the new sustainable infrastructure proposed by the Autonomous Province of Trento. Mayor Alessio Zanoni reiterated that the maintenance and management of the project must remain the responsibility of the Province, formalizing the opposition in a letter addressed to Trentino President Maurizio Fugatti. In the letter, the mayor emphasized that no section of the cycle path will be taken on, suggesting that respect for the environment and safety can only be ensured through the use of boats. Additionally, concerns regarding the safety of the infrastructure have emerged with the inquiry from provincial councilor Lucia Coppola, who raised questions about the potential risks of collapse and geological instability along the affected sections. Coppola requested clarifications from the Province regarding their awareness of such risks and the monitoring measures in place. Currently, the project is facing significant challenges, with interruptions along the route from Riva to Malcesine and ongoing opposition from the region. Italian Version
