Riva Renews Ban on Ball Games on the Beach to Protect Swimmers
Riva has reaffirmed a ban on playing ball games on the beach, citing reports from the summer season of swimmers being disturbed or hit by balls. The measure is based on the Urban Police Regulation, which prohibits throwing or running games outside designated areas in crowded places. The ordinance is in force from June 24 to September 27.
The municipality said the rule is intended to balance young people’s right to play with the safety of beachgoers. It invites anyone playing ball to use the sports areas north of the cycle path, particularly the Miralago area, where ball games are allowed away from other bathers. The decision has been communicated to residents and visitors.
