Riva Tourism Nears Full Capacity Amid Strong Fall Season Pace

After the surprising August (who would have thought there would be vacant beds? Who would have thought that some hoteliers would regret — for the first time in their lives — having let go of contracts with foreign agencies to make room for Italians?), September and October could set the record for tourist stays in Riva and the Upper Garda region.

You don’t need to have devoured a statistics manual to realize that in recent days, the movement of tourists is at very high levels: just take a look at the bars, the lakeside promenade, the squares, and the traditional bus parking areas.

The role of Enio Meneghelli and tourism trends

But Enio Meneghelli, president of l’Apt, adds to the positive feelings by continuously monitoring accommodation businesses, which allows us to say that we are very close to “full capacity”.

It’s something to be proud of, even if the beautiful weather so far has helped, combining with the already numerous bookings a strong influx of last-minute tourists.

“In August,” explains Meneghelli, “the sea presents more competition. At the end of summer and early fall, however, we have truly motivated tourists.”

Biking, walking, tranquility, natural beauty, cuisine, strategic location for trips to art cities and the Dolomites: these are some of the “products” that define us. We made a good call by extending the season and understanding that people are not only looking for thirty-degree weather in the shade.”

Future prospects and promotional activities

Enzo Bassetti, president of Unione, echoes this sentiment: “Yes, after an unusual August, there has been, as we anticipated, a major recovery.”

And I am very optimistic for the next month and a half: there are also fairs and congresses, with a schedule that has never been busier than this year.”

There are thousands of visitors. But it’s not just that. Events such as the senior meeting of the tertiary sector, Fenacom, also serve as a calling card. For Riva, there will be further benefits.”
