Rivoltella Lakeside Promenade Project: 10 Professionals to Submit Offers

By April 18th, the 10 professionals selected by the Municipality for the development of the Rivoltella lakeside promenade project must submit their offers, including costs. This is a significant investment, capable of revitalizing the bustling neighborhood with a lakeside promenade that will connect the port to the Madonna della Villa chapel. The estimated expenditure is two billion and 800 million euros.

The council had issued a European-wide open call to select the professionals to be entrusted with the design project. 21 applications were received, and 10 were shortlisted.

«Given the technical timelines», affirms Public Works Councillor Tommaso Giardino, «we should have the proposals with graphic plans available by early autumn, when we will evaluate the next phases».

Constraints and challenges of the project

The lakeside promenade project involves areas under state ownership, so the intervention must fully comply with environmental and landscape restrictions. This presents a complex task for the designers, judging by the many difficulties faced in the redevelopment of Desenzano’s lakeside, which seemed to encounter fewer setbacks at first glance.

Here, the reconstruction work of the section between the Venetian bridge and the Park Hotel has resumed and is expected to be completed within about forty days, excluding fountains.

The first phase of the lakeside modernization project eliminates parking next to the lake and plans to pave the entire promenade with porphyry. Wooden benches will be installed, eight fountains will be created, and the lighting will be refurbished. The estimated cost is 1.2 billion euros, out of the total 8 billion.
