Rivoltella Opens Permanent Police Detachment to Boost Local Security
Perhaps with some delay compared to initial forecasts, Rivoltella has had its “own” Municipal Police detachments since yesterday. And it is no longer an occasional presence, as it was until a few days ago. Now it is permanent. Because, in addition to an officer handling administrative tasks inside the office, a radio patrol will operate throughout the territory from morning to evening. Furthermore, soon the foot patrol officer will be assisted by another colleague in monitoring the historic center.
Presence and organization of the new detachment
The delegated councilor for security and urban surveillance, Achille Benedetti, is pleased to have fulfilled the commitment to equip the most populous district of Desenzano (with over 7,000 inhabitants) with a police station connected to the main headquarters and the municipal offices via terminals. A presence very much felt and requested by the entire Rivoltella community, which, setting aside ideologies and political flags, had repeatedly made its voice heard loudly.
It was not possible earlier to create this detachment: personnel and equipment issues kept delaying its opening. For Benedetti, it had almost become a nightmare.
Yesterday, at the initiative’s presentation, was also Commander Carlalberto Presicci, who deserves credit for managing to distribute personnel and equipment in a city that, in a few years, will approach 30,000 residents, with its outer districts separated by up to 10 kilometers.
The Rivoltella office, located at the former municipal headquarters in Via Di Vittorio, as mentioned, has been reopened permanently. Public hours are from 9:00 to 12:30, Monday through Friday (tel.: 030.9902877). Inside, an officer will be present to provide all the urban surveillance services: permits, fine payments, authorizations, reports, etc.
Services and activities of the command
The command will also have jurisdiction over other districts: San Pietro, Centenaro, Vaccarolo, San Martino della Battaglia. Thus ending the inconveniences and inevitable time losses for citizens and tourists, who will be able to reach the command within ten minutes to deliver documents or receive information.
Additionally, a radio patrol with two officers onboard will circulate widely in Rivoltella to enforce traffic rules and curb the widespread local phenomenon of illegal parking. The historic center is sometimes invaded by vehicles of all kinds beyond permitted hours, despite clear prohibitions.
“In the coming months, we will enhance the service,” announced Benedetti, “up to having our officers’ presence extended into the evening. The government and provincial authorities have provided guarantees for economic incentives, allowing us to offer an even more useful service for citizens.”
“I would also like to add,” Benedetti continues, “that we are working to acquire a mobile station that can quickly move from one point to another within the city to monitor access to the historic centers.”
“Finally, the vehicle fleet will be strengthened, and staff will be redistributed rationally to check the historic centers, where we have recorded vandalism and mischief in the evening hours on more than one occasion. The first results are already evident. Just as an example, the number of street vendors and clandestine itinerant merchants has significantly decreased recently.”
