A tragic road accident occurred late last night, Sunday, June 8, between Assenza and Brenzone, resulting in the deaths of two young lovers. The emergency call came in just before midnight, after a van collided with a scooter. The victims, a 42-year-old Romanian man residing in Brenzone and his 44-year-old Moldovan partner originally from Malcesine, were struck by the vehicle under circumstances that are still under investigation. The carabinieri from the Caprino Veronese station, an ambulance, a medical emergency vehicle, and firefighters from the Bardolino detachment were dispatched to the scene.
Despite the arrival of a helicopter for rescue efforts, all attempts were in vain. The scooter involved in the collision was completely destroyed. The driver of the van was a 41-year-old man from Vicenza. Investigations are ongoing to determine the responsibilities and exact circumstances surrounding the accident.
