A tragedy struck Calvagese della Riviera last night when a 42-year-old woman was hit by a hit-and-run driver along the SP78, near the airstrip on Via Marconi in the Carzago Riviera district. The incident occurred around 1:30 AM, and the victim, Diana Siminescu, originally from Romania and residing in the lakeside municipality, was struck while standing by the roadside, being thrown into a ditch. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency services, there was nothing that could be done for her.
Authorities are now searching for the hit-and-run driver responsible for the incident. Firefighters and traffic police from Salò were on the scene to carry out the necessary investigations. Officers recovered some fragments that may belong to the vehicle involved and are conducting inquiries with local auto body shops to identify the model. Additionally, they are reviewing footage from nearby surveillance cameras. The victim leaves behind a husband, a local police officer in Vallio, and four children.
