Road Works on Gardesana S.R. Cause Increased Risks; Calls for Signage Restoration
Information about the works on the orientale Gardesana state road
For several weeks now, there have been reconstruction works on the pavement and horizontal signage on the orientale Gardesana state road. The affected section runs from the Fossalta locality to the Caneva World water park, heading towards Pacengo and Peschiera.
The area crossed by this section of Gardesana is home to campgrounds, which are very busy in summer but deserted in winter because it is open countryside. It is completely unlit, and the carriageway in that area is quite narrow.
Driving there is therefore not easy, especially at night. The difficulties for motorists are even more evident at this time because the new asphalt has made the road surface very dark, and the total absence of horizontal signage causes even greater problems.
Problems and requests for intervention
The absence of the white centerline means that motorists have no reference point in that stretch, especially when there is fog and mist, which are almost always present in these December days. It is therefore essential that Anas, responsible for this section of the road, promptly addresses the issue by removing the traffic signs under renovation and installing horizontal signage, particularly the centerline dividing the carriageways.
The inconvenience has also been reported to the Polstrada di Bardolino, which recently inspected the construction site and is working to address motorists’ difficulties with a request for urgency to the project managers in that zone.
The area under construction features ditches and depressions near the shoulders, as well as dangerous curves, although signposted, but still hazardous for those unfamiliar with the section.
The only reference points for identifying the road layout are the few remaining retroreflective plastic cones placed along the roadside near the ditches.
