Ron’s Sudden Exit at Torri Event Sparks Controversy

Unbelievable to one’s own eyes and ears. This is the most “generous” comment that singer Rosalino Cellamare, also known as Ron, received in the lakeside town, thanks to his very personal “show” on Friday evening.

In a square at the port, almost packed with people waiting to see the well-known national singer up close, since, before performing at Albisano scheduled for 9 PM, he was supposed to receive the keys to the city from the mayor of Torri and a parchment from Re Berengario Primo, the carnival mascot of the town, the incredible happened. Starting from 7:30 PM, the time Ron was awaited in the square, and until 9:50 PM, not only hundreds of people but also local and provincial political figures and representatives were left on standby, patiently waiting.

The singer’s behavior and reactions

Well, the renowned singer, after making everyone wait for almost two hours due to a supposed “car breakdown,” which later proved to be false, but that had even mobilized the municipal police of Torri to “retrieve him,” finally took the stage in piazza del port amid applause from the audience. Then, the unthinkable happened. He got angry and left after just a few seconds upon arrival.

Once on stage, after apologizing for the delay with “I’m sorry, but it wasn’t my fault. I am usually punctual,” just two whistles from a single person among the hundreds present were enough to ruffle the singer’s composure. “I arrived late,” he remarked, “but I can also leave early.” With micro in hand, he literally rushed off the stage, leaving everyone present stunned and bewildered.

Calls from the vice mayor Giorgio Bonoldi, urging Ron to slow down and reconsider, proved ineffective. As a result, the audience, television crews, and political personalities were left amazed and speechless, exchanging glances.

Consequences and official reactions

At that point, Re Berengario Primo and his court took the stage to make some humorous remarks and to “patch up” the colossal “tear” created by Ron — a patch evidently too small. “An unworthy gesture for a professional,” declared assessore Davide Bendinelli, who then, “by principle,” did not even attend the Albisano concert where Ron performed for about two hours in front of around 300 people who had given up hope of seeing the singer (review available in Spettacoli).

According to what was explained to the public, the singer will formally apologize to the town and the mayor with a press release. Meanwhile, the mayor was left with the keys to the city and a silver plaque that he was to present to Ron “on the thirtieth anniversary of his career for his artistic achievements and brilliant successes.” The audience, on the other hand, was left with disappointment over a behavior that will be remembered long in the lakeside center.

Finally, the citizens of Torri are left with roughly twenty million euros to pay, transferred from the municipal funds to the Committee for the Albisano Events, organizer of the concert on behalf of the administration. An additional unspecified fee paid to Ron by the music company that, along with the Committee, organized the event.

But, since for every person who cries there is always someone else who laughs, the likely recipients of the laughter will soon be approximately ten million viewers of “Striscia la Notizia,” who has already been assured by locals that they will send the recordings. So that, in the end, “it’s not Ron,” as they specified, laughing heartily.
