Gran Sasso Cable Car: Replacement of the Supporting Cables Assigned to a Company from Lonato del Garda. Following the conclusion of the ski season, work has begun today on the replacement of the supporting cables for the cable car that connects Fonte Cerreto, at an altitude of 1,115 meters, with Campo Imperatore, located at 2,130 meters. The project, which is expected to last between 60 and 70 days, has been awarded to Graffer srl from Lonato del Garda and is financed by approximately 4 million euros in municipal funds. This operation is necessary following a report to the Prosecutor’s Office that led to the temporary closure of the facility at the beginning of last season.
The Ansfisa subsequently authorized the reopening of the cable car, imposing monthly inspections and periodic renewals of the operating permit. According to Luigi Faccia, councilor for Mountain Affairs for the Municipality of L’Aquila, the installation of the new cables should be completed by mid-July, with the aim of reopening the facility by August. Faccia also expressed his satisfaction on social media regarding the success of the recent ski season and the significant influx of visitors.
