Rudi Amati Runs Marathon des Sables to Raise Awareness for SCN8A Mutation
Rudi Amati, a 55-year-old ultrarunner from Toscolano Maderno, will participate in the Marathon des Sables from April 3-13, covering 270 kilometers across six stages in extreme desert conditions. He will run in support of SCN8A Italia, raising awareness for the rare genetic mutation SCN8A and supporting affected families.
Amati, who previously completed the Everest-style challenge of climbing Mount Pizzoccolo eight times in 27 hours, is running this race for charity. A GoFundMe campaign is ongoing to fund research, family support, and awareness efforts for SCN8A Italia ODV.
