Safer Seas and Lakes: Enhanced Patrols on Major Lakes for Ferragosto

The Coast Guard operation “Mare e Laghi sicuri” has been extended until 16 August, increasing patrols on inland waters during the Ferragosto weekend as more swimmers and boaters take to the lakes. In the Garda, Maggiore and Como sectors, authorities will deploy each day 70 personnel along with 16 patrol boats and small craft, focusing on busy areas and on navigation rules near swimmers, speed limits close to shore, and safe distances from divers.

The initiative is mainly preventive and aims to reduce risks linked to dangerous behavior. Since the operation began, it has assisted 115 pleasure craft and provided help to 284 people through the involved commands and local units.
