The Garda Community Authority has published the beach and navigation safety ordinance for the Garda Veronese area. The ordinance, signed by the Director of Infrastructure, Transport, Public Works, and State Property – Infrastructure and Transport Department, Engineer Andrea Menin, aims to ensure the safety of bathers and boaters during the summer season of 2024.

General Provisions and Beach Season:
The ordinance defines the beach season period from May 15th to October 15th. During this time, beach activities, sports, and entertainment are allowed, with beach establishments required to provide adequate lifeguard services.

Designated Lake Areas for Bathing:
The areas designated for bathing include the bodies of water along the coast between Malcesine and Peschiera del Garda, within a limit of 100 meters from the shore, even if not marked by buoys. In addition, concessionaires must place red buoys to indicate the boundaries of the bathing areas and ensure the surveillance of bathers during bathing hours.

Safety and Lifesaving:
The ordinance requires the continuous presence of lifeguard services along the beaches, adequately equipped. Furthermore, in the absence of lifeguard services, municipalities are required to install multilingual warning signs to indicate the lack of safety in the bathing areas. Lifeguard stations must be equipped with first aid, communication, and observation devices to ensure a prompt response in case of emergencies.

Navigation and Water Activities:
During the beach season, navigation is prohibited in the designated bathing waters from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, except for rowing boats and rescue vehicles. The ordinance also specifies the conditions for the use of equipment such as stand-up paddleboards and windsurfing, carefully regulating their operation to not interfere with beach safety.

Specific Limitations and Prohibitions:
Port areas and those with high nautical traffic are prohibited for bathing. Nighttime restrictions on the use of sound devices are also in place to preserve public tranquility. The ordinance aims to maintain a balance between recreational use of the lake and the need to ensure safety and respect for the lake environment.

With these measures, the Veneto Regional Administration is committed to protecting both residents and the numerous tourists expected during the summer months, promoting a safe and pleasant environment for everyone.
