The Italian Championship of FIV Zones has officially commenced in Desenzano del Garda, with the first sailing races kicking off on Friday, the 24th. This event marks the “zero” edition of a new format without Over 25 tutors on board, featuring the participation of eleven teams from as many FIV zones. Following an opening ceremony on Thursday evening and a parade through the city center, the crews began competition with a meeting for the helmsmen at 8:00 AM, followed by a wait for wind conditions. The first races started around 10:00 AM, culminating in six completed races by 6:00 PM. The provisional standings currently see the IV FIV Zone (Lazio) in the lead, helmed by Aurora Casertano, followed by the I Zone (Liguria) and the XIII Zone (Friuli Venezia Giulia), both vying for podium positions. Tomorrow, the second day of qualifications will continue, while on Sunday, the Gold and Silver final phases will take place, where the Under 25 FIV Zones national title will be awarded. The organization by Fraglia Vela Desenzano has efficiently managed every aspect of the event, ensuring the smooth running of the races despite some interruptions caused by collisions between boats.
