Salò and Rescue on Lake Garda: a Year After the Rescue

A German citizen returned to **Salò** to express his gratitude to the rescuers of the **Coast Guard**, one year after being saved from a cardiac arrest by the lakeside. On August 27, 2024, while on vacation, the 58-year-old man collapsed, and the crew of the patrol boat CP 862, returning from a mission, noticed the situation and promptly intervened with resuscitation maneuvers and a semi-automatic defibrillator. Thanks to the timely actions of the military personnel, the tourist received assistance until the arrival of the ambulance from the Volontari del Garda.

During today’s visit to the **Coast Guard** headquarters, the man met with the operators who saved him, sharing a moment filled with emotion and gratitude. As a token of appreciation, he was presented with a Coast Guard cap, symbolizing the bond formed during that incident. This gesture highlights the crucial role of the **Coast Guard** in ensuring safety and safeguarding human life on the lake.
