A new historical exhibition was inaugurated on September 6 at the MuSa in Salò, titled “The Last Winter. 1943–1945. From Resistance to Liberation.” Curated by Rolando Anni, the exhibition will remain open until January 6, 2026, and offers a captivating narrative of the final years of World War II in the Brescia and Garda areas. Through archival images, unpublished photographs, and multimedia contributions, the exhibition highlights scenes of everyday life, acts of courage, and dramatic moments that characterized the struggle against oppression.
Particular attention is given to the work of Angio Zane, a young partisan, whose photographs evoke deep emotions such as fatigue and hope. Additionally, the crucial role of women in the Resistance and the support of local communities during the roundups are explored. A significant iconographic chapter also documents the German retreat in Valle Sabbia through the shots of Stefano Stagnoli. The exhibition serves not only as an archive of historical memory but also as an invitation to reflect on the value of democracy and freedom in the present.
