Salò Fire Causes Extensive Damage on Via Garibaldi at Night

A fire broke out at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Via Garibaldi in Salò, causing extensive damage to a building at number 15 and its roof, and leading to the evacuation of nearby residents. Approximately 40 firefighters responded from multiple squads to contain the blaze before dawn, preventing further structural damage and limiting fire spread to adjacent structures.

The incident resulted in the closure of three businesses and part of the street, with eight apartments declared uninhabitable. Ten residents were displaced, with some finding temporary shelter independently. Two elderly residents, including one in a wheelchair at a local care home, returned to their apartments after safety checks. Local authorities, including Mayor Francesco Cagnini, monitored the emergency response, while volunteers provided hot drinks to evacuees and responders.
