Salò hosts “River or Death”: a critical historical documentary
An important cultural event will take place in Salò on Saturday, the 8th, featuring the screening of the historical documentary “**Fiume o Morte!**” at the local library. The film will begin at 3 PM and will be enhanced by the presence of director Igor Bezinovic and historian Federico Carlo Simonelli, who will provide context to understand the complex events depicted. This docufilm, a collaboration between Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia and already a winner at the Rotterdam Film Festival, addresses the “Fiume Expedition” led by Gabriele D’Annunzio in 1919, offering a critical perspective on the D’Annunzian myth. Following the screening, the discussion will move to Arci Zambarda on Via Orti 1 at 6 PM, where the audience will have the opportunity to engage with Bezinovic and reflect on the historical ties between Salò and Fiume/Rijeka. This initiative is part of the “Calendario incivile” series, which promotes discussions on anti-fascist and anti-colonial themes. Admission to the event is free until seating is filled (99 seats available). Italian Version
