An incident of squatting has occurred in Salò, where a 55-year-old man, R.M., upon returning from a brief visit to a tobacco shop, discovered that his home had been occupied by a family of strangers. The man had left his keys in the door, and when he returned, he found the entrance blocked from the inside, with unfamiliar voices coming from the house. Despite the discomfort caused by the situation and his fear of the presence of strangers, R.M. decided to take matters into his own hands without involving the authorities.
Entering through a side access, he confronted a family consisting of a father, a mother, and two young children who had already settled into his bedroom. After attempting to persuade them to leave the premises and ultimately succeeding due to his determination, R.M. chose not to file a complaint, and the occupants eventually departed. The man expressed concern that the squatters may have been watching him prior to the incident and decided to make the episode public to alert citizens about the growing phenomenon of squatting in the city.
