Salò Launches Summer Emergency Service Amid Rehab Facility Plans

The summer emergency service is launching as the wait continues to see whether Salò will have a new rehabilitation facility. The emergency first aid point is indeed reopening.

This initiative restores, in the town of the Middle Lake, interim during the summer months, the services related to urgencies and emergencies. The service will be active from mid-June. It was presented yesterday during a press conference by the management of the Azienda Ospedaliera di Desenzano.

With the general director, Dr. Angelo Foschini, were present Prof. Alfonso Castellani, medical director, Dr. Raffaele Frau, and the mayor of Salò, lawyer Gianpiero Cipani.

Presentation of the summer emergency service

“For the summer tourist season,” began Dr. Foschini, “the company has decided to activate a first aid point at the Salò Hospital starting from mid-June, located in the same building where the old emergency room operated (tel. 03652971).”

The initiative continues the regional program implemented by the company, which recently activated the advanced emergency point in Gargnano. This fits into the broader strategic efforts and organizational guidelines aimed at ensuring further development of emergency services in the Lombardy region.

Motivations and goals of the intervention in Salò

The choice of Salò was made to address the difficulties faced by residents in the Middle Lake area, considering the significant increase in visitors during the summer holiday period.

Thus, alongside the already operational network of hospital emergency rooms and emergency and acceptance departments, the plan for a widespread distribution of “advanced” stations capable of bringing assistance closer to citizens continues.

The meeting provided an opportunity for Salò’s mayor, Gianpiero Cipani, to revisit and update discussions regarding the construction of a new facility. The mayor reported that an assessment is underway with the Lombardy Region to evaluate the feasibility of building a new health facility in Salò.

Project for a new rehabilitation facility

This would be a rehabilitation-type facility, offering inpatient services with approximately 90 beds, including both ordinary and day hospital wards, along with outpatient services for the population, mainly in the field of multidisciplinary rehabilitation.

The new facility, likely to be located outside the urban area for easier access by the population, would also have the capacity to develop additional services in palliative care and complementary medicine.

As mentioned, the project could restore a significant healthcare function to Salò. It is also possible that, following the summer season and the temporary summer emergency service, this service may be confirmed or extended beyond the season.
