Salò Mall Fire Prompts Safety Concerns and CGIL Strike

A fire broke out Monday evening at the Carrefour store inside Salò’s shopping center, resulting in the hospitalization of two men aged 55 and 73 for precaution. Three fire crews responded quickly to contain the flames and begin cleanup, while investigations into the cause and structural safety are ongoing.

The incident led to the temporary closure of the shopping center and prompted a full-day strike by CGIL on January 6, citing concerns over safety, seismic vulnerability, and environmental conditions. The company allowed workers inside for clearance operations without specialized teams, sparking protests over the lack of official safety assurances.
