A group of young people from Salò has organized a peaceful, anti-fascist demonstration for Sunday, October 27, gathering at 3:30 PM in Piazza Vittoria. The initiative, titled “Don’t Turn All of Salò into a Fascist Stronghold,” aims to dissociate the city’s image from its fascist legacy, coinciding with the anniversary of the March on Rome on October 28, 1922. This date marks the beginning of the fascist dictatorship and is annually commemorated by nostalgics at a well-known local restaurant.
The promoters of the event, Lorenzo and Alessandro from the Group 27 October, stated that the demonstration seeks to reaffirm the contribution of Salò residents to the Resistance and highlight the importance of the anti-fascist struggle as a collective value. Various associations, including the local ANPI sections and the Arci “Vittorio Zambarda” circle, have joined the initiative, which aims to raise awareness about the significance of rights and democratic freedoms in contemporary society.
