Salò Plans New Football Field and Stadium Upgrades for 2023

We have already discussed the Municipal Administration of Salò‘s intention to put the old «Carlo Amadei» sports field up for sale.

Most likely, the zoning plan will be amended to make the area developable. A new football field of the same size will take over the functions of the old «Amadei» – between the pools, the new stadium, and the multi-purpose court.

«The idea – explains Bernardo Berardinelli, Public Works Councillor – originated from the urgency to bring the old field up to standard (which would cost around 400 million lira) and the need to equip the “Turina” Stadium with a training pitch for various uses.» The ownership of the area already belongs to the Municipality, and it appears that Aci Benaco, to which the «Due Pini» srl has entrusted the management of the football facilities, agrees with the plan.

Construction of the new field and stadium redevelopment

Therefore, a dirt-based field will be created adjacent to the stadium. The project will also involve a reorganization of the entire sports complex: the stadium entrance will be moved from its current location (in front of the Pedrazzi property, for clarity) to inside, between the two fields, to have a single ticket office and a unified entrance for both playing areas.

A protected walkway will allow players to access the locker rooms, with a green strip on either side. The configuration of the locker rooms, currently too large, will be «rationalized», also considering their simultaneous use by both stadium players and those using the training field.

While the final detailed project is still being prepared, verbal authorization has already been obtained from CONI. Everything suggests that it will be possible to call for tenders for the work by summer. If all goes well, completion is expected by the beginning of the 2001/2002 football season.

The project for this intervention, which will reorganize the football facilities, was drafted by architect Armellini. The total cost is estimated at 600 million lire. «The stands, for now planned for this field, will have 80 seats, but there remains the possibility of adding more on the sides», explains arch. Anna Gatti, from the Technical Office of Salò.

«The goal – emphasizes Councillor Berardelli – is to unify the entire sporting area – and, of course, the new field will retain the name «Carlo Amadei».

Meanwhile, work continues at the new «Turina» stadium, for which opposition councillor Mauro Ventura (of Civica per Salò) submitted an interpellation discussed at the latest City Council meeting. Ventura is asking for clarification on the state of deterioration of the new field’s locker rooms.

Some inspections revealed that So.Co.Gi did not properly carry out the work, especially regarding the waterproofing of the locker room roof slabs, the public services, and the sewage drainage system.

The Municipality has requested that the company perform the restoration work, which has not yet been carried out. These repairs have then been assigned to the firm Sacef 73, contractor for the second phase of stadium work (the second stand, construction of a second order of stands, and the fencing and access improvements).

«The costs – specifies Gabriele Cominotti, Sports Councillor – will be charged to So.Co.Gi, since the warranty policy is still valid».
