The project to restore the municipal theater of Salò, which was initiated in 2018 by the Administration to revive the historic structure that has always been dear to the entire community, continues with new energy and an initiative aimed at the citizens.
The Mayor and the Municipal Administration recently presented the restoration process and the initial phases already completed for the theater. They have also launched the project “The Theater to Come – Raising the Curtain”, which aims to give the citizens of Salò the opportunity to donate and become protagonists of the redevelopment project.
The details of the project, proposed through the informative portal www.teatrosalo.it, include the following: “After a series of urgent interventions in the 90s to ensure the safety of the structure and roof, in 2018 the Municipal Administration approached the issue of restoration in an organic way, with the goal of not only restoring an important historical monument, but also providing the city and the territory with a functionally versatile and technologically advanced venue to enable a wide range of artistic and civic activities.
Following the general pre-feasibility project, it was decided to execute the work in phases. The first three phases will be financed through urban planning agreements, while the fourth phase will be funded directly by the municipality, with a total investment of approximately 12 million euros. However, the final stretch is still missing in order to raise the curtain.
“The Theater to Come” is a new project by the Municipal Administration of Salò that will allow all citizens, businesses, professionals, and associations to participate in the rebirth and reopening of the Municipal theater. It is a concrete and tangible sign of closeness to the local community, which will provide the opportunity to be in the front row for the theater’s reopening and participate in exclusive moments and artistic proposals designed specifically for supporters.
From the desire to make the Municipal theater a place for all the people of Salò (including those who have adopted the city), a calling card for tourists, an attraction for the territory, and a recognized center of cultural production, the project “The Theater to Come” was born. It is an opportunity for discovery, participation, support, and promotion of beauty.
