Salò School Celebrates 19 Graduates in Traditional Artisan Ceremony

Nineteen students who, this year, earned their diploma from the Scuola Bottega di Salò, led by Afra Vezzoli Di Giovine. They were celebrated during the traditional ceremony held in the city hall’s council hall, together with master artisans.

Professors’ Speech and Education

“When it comes to young people, everything seems to become difficult, problematic, and incomprehensible – said Professor Di Giovine. – But here, there are those who are committed: they have worked, set a goal for themselves, and achieved it. They represent the desire to learn to understand the world, the eagerness to do to operate in life, and to aim towards the future.”

In the morning, the students go to… workshop, to the artisan who supervises them for three years. In the afternoon, they attend a few hours of classes with volunteer teachers.

Authorities’ Speeches and School History

Mayor Giampiero Cipani described the school as “an important and fundamental initiative. The diploma awarding is one of the most enjoyable events.” Maria Teresa Zavattaro, from Soroptimist Garda Sud: “Back in 1985, with a brilliant and commendable idea, two of our presidents, Marisa Belletti and Giustina Baresani, founded the Scuola Bottega. The work was entrusted to Afra Vezzoli Di Giovine, who, with perseverance and courage, still runs it today, assisted by Gloria Sartorelli and Lella Perantoni. We are proud to support it.”

“In the future, we will face difficulties. We will do so with affection and dedication, together with all sponsors,” said Sergio Tonacci, who distributed the scholarships from Mutuo Soccorso to Matteo Goffi, Rossella Rizza, Stefano Rosina, Daniel Brescianini, and Alessandro Vezzola.

“A modest amount, ours, not like on TV quiz shows, but still a gesture of appreciation and an encouragement to keep striving more and more,” Tonacci stated.
